The Ballad

Once upon a time, a woman fell hopelessly in love…

One of the things that we want to do with our First Draft events is to inspire the beginnings of new kinds of work and new partnerships between artists.

This week for #FirstDraftFridays, we’re sharing the biggest collaboration we’ve had on our stages so far. Watch this ballad, performed by a group of our First Draft regulars: Abi Hynes, Andrew Williamson, Jenny Browne, Ailish Breen, Rachel Fernandez-Arias and Jez Hewes.

Love them so much that you want to follow them ALL on Twitter? Use the links above…

Words by Abi Hynes
Music by Rachel Fernandez-Arias

Sir, you have tempted me, your touch like a memory,
You’re all that is dear to me now.
Come and be safe with me, whisper and pray to me
While winter lies white on the ground, the ground,
While winter lies cold on the ground

Darling, it’s clear to me, your skin is a tapestry,
Each thread is gold to me now.
Come and be safe with me, whisper and pray to me
While winter lies white on the ground, the ground,
While winter lies cold on the ground

Darling, it’s clear to me, your eyes have a melody,
The music is life to me now.
Come and be safe with me, whisper and pray to me
While winter lies white on the ground, the ground,
While winter lies cold on the ground

Sweetheart, be sweet to me, silence will murder me
Speak to me, make me your vow.
Wake from this cruel sleep, open your eyes to weep
Look how I’m loving you now,
Oh, look how I’m loving you now.

Have we left you wanting more?

Have you been inspired by this lot and their ballad? We’re looking for contributors to perform in pairs for 2nd birthday event on 21 April.
